Tammy Stahl
Artist

Although mostly self-taught, I have learned valuable lessons and techniques from other artists through various workshops; the most important perhaps is to just "be yourself”.
My go-to medium is oils; however, I enjoy creating with acrylics, gouache and watercolor. Each offers its own unique dynamic. Oils allow me to create depth, luminosity and atmospheric perspective for a more realistic feel and mood.

As an outdoor enthusiast, I enjoy spending time out in nature, especially the beach. The beach is a place of solace for me. Listening to and watching the waves sooths my spirit. The power of the waves crashing on the rocks, or gently rolling up the sand--turbulent yet calming-- is awe- inspiring. Painting the ocean and waves takes me to a place of peace and relaxation.

More recently, I have discovered the appeal of plein air painting-- painting outside! After working in the office all week, taking a little road trip and painting outside on the weekend is a real treat. Plein air painting is not all that easy sometimes, but it affords me the opportunity to get outside, breathe some fresh air, and spend time in the quiet solitude of the Creator's creations.

Ray of Hope was done for the Hope for Lahaina Fundraiser for fire victims. It was 1 of over a couple hundred entered that actually sold!
