Ira Yawnick

Artist

I was born a twin in Newark, New Jersey, at a very young age.  I got my first camera at around nine years old.

I joined my first art group, the Torrance Art Guild.  In their early days, Photography could only be entered once a year. So, I ran for president and when I won I changed the rules and photography was allowed in every show.

After moving to Corona I joined Corona Art Association and later helped form The Arts Colony.

When I worked for Honda, their philosophy was getting involved in the community. I partnered with Rolling Readers where we read to intercity school kids and gave them a book each year. Most went to college and were grateful for the early help and encouragement.
