Judith Powell

Artist

Ever since I was a little girl and was given the Big Box of Crayola Crayons where I discovered how turquoise and silver, (gray) worked together, I have been fascinated by color and its application

I graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara and taught Junior High for many years and then a few years at the elementary level.   I hope that I inspired a few students to find their artistic as well as their academic self because color and “art stuff” was always a part of my curriculum.

As an adult I took some oil painting classes and found I really enjoyed it.  I even gave lessons to neighbor women in my garage.

The wretched Covid lockdown gave me time, Amazon.com brought me supplies and YouTube supplied me How-To lessons in watercolor.  I took many on-line lessons from the outstanding British watercolorist, Jean Haines.   I discovered a new love.

As I became more confident, I found that I loved painting dogs.  I am at my happiest when I am painting their hairy hills and valleys and re-creating those eyes and noses.
